Liquid Football Answers The Call

Liquid Football (1-2-1) plays their first friendly Saturday evening against USL League Two side Fort Wayne FC (3-0-1) at Bishop D’arcy Satdium in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

When you get an email from USMNT legend and US Soccer Hall of Famer Demarcus Beasley, you answer. Fort Wayne FC was looking for a friendly, and Liquid Football answered.

Who is Fort Wayne FC? Fort Wayne FC applied to be in the NPSL for the 2020 season, which was canceled due to Covid-19, but later that year, it was announced Fort Wayne FC would be joining USL League Two (a 4th tier league of US Soccer) and Fort Wayne native, Beasley had became a part of the ownership group.

Since joining USL 2 in 2021, Fort Wayne FC hasn’t qualified for the playoffs, but this year could be different. Fort Wayne FC is (3-0-1) through their first four games, which puts them in first place in the Valley Division of the Central Conference. Their last match was against Toledo Villa, who they beat 2-1.

Fort Wayne has a deep roster of players from all over the world. Most of their players have experience from playing in college or pro.

For Liquid Football, it is their first year of existence. They play in US soccer’s 5th tier in the Midwest Premier League. They have also played four games. So far, they are 1-2-1 and mid-table in the Great Lakes East conference. Their last match was against AIM SC on Tuesday, where they tied 1-1.

As for Liquid Football, its players have various levels of experience from high school to pro. Liquid Football has been plagued with the injury bug lately. Still, luckily, midfielder Beni Tanyi will return after getting hurt in the game against Detroit Union.
