To Be the Best You Have to Beat the Best

Coming off their first match and first win, Liquid Football (1-0-0) are slated to play defending champions, Inter Detroit (1-0-0) on Friday, May 12th at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, MI. Kick off is at 8:00 p.m.

The two clubs are currently tied for first place on three points. Last week, Liquid Football beat fellow expansion team, Troy United 3-1 at the Hawk Community Center with two goals from Waseem Muthana and another from Najeeb Alrebat. Inter Detroit beat the Michigan Stars U-23s 3-1 at the Michigan Stars Sports Center with goals from Gabe Baylon, and two from Kyle Schueneman.

Inter retained a solid core of players from their championship winning team last season, which was made up of many players from high level college programs. In the off-season, new NISA club, Gold Star Detroit signed six players from Inter Detroit, which is a testament to the quality of the team. It left a hole in the squad’s roster, but Inter didn’t skip a beat. They brought in seven new players including two who have experience with Chivas Guadalajara’s U-20 team.

Liquid Football has also been active with new player announcements in the past weeks, signing local talent and players with experience at different levels.

Inter Detroit look to continue their reign over the MWPL Great Lakes Division. Meanwhile, Liquid Football prepares for their first real test to prove that they belong.
